Class Descriptions
Yin Yoga
Invite some Yin to counterbalance all of the Yang in your busy life. Yin yoga is a type of meditative practice in which yoga poses are held for longer periods of time. These long holds allow your muscle and fascia tissues to naturally respond to the deep stretch with the aid of yoga props. The stillness allows you to relax and listen to the story your body is telling you about where tension is being held. The deep breathing helps your body to release stored trauma that can manifest as tension and stress in the body. Whether you are an athlete with overworked muscles or just in need of a great stretch, this class is for you. Beginner-friendly.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga is a more passive version of Yin yoga. The intention is to relax as deeply as possible into the gentle stretches, using as little physical effort as possible. The mind focuses on breathing in order to cultivate mindfulness and release tension from the body. Restorative yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows the heart rate, regulates the blood pressure and relaxes the body. This type of practice is thought to be beneficial for anxiety, stress, and even boost the immune system to aid in the body's natural healing process. Beginner-friendly.
Hatha (Gentle) Yoga
Hatha yoga is the foundation of the physical practices of yoga including Vinyasa. It involves a sequence of asanas (postures) with emphasis on the breath and the mind-body connection. It is generally practiced more slowly and with more static posture holds than found in styles such as Vinyasa. The class will begin with a guided breath work to increase your connection with your practice and end with a relaxing savasana so you can leave your mat with a calm mind and spirit. This class is appropriate for all levels and abilities as postures can be modified to address the needs of all students. Beginner-friendly.
